Donald Trump’s luxury hotel properties, The Trump Hotel Collection, appears to be facing its second data breach in a year, according to KrebsOnSecurity.
Krebs reported a number of sources had “noticed a pattern of fraud on cards that were all used at multiple Trump hotel locations in the past two to three months, including at Trump International Hotel New York, Trump Hotel Waikiki in Honolulu, and the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Toronto.”
A Trump hotels representative said they are investigating the claims.
“We are in the midst of a thorough investigation on this matter,” the company said in a written statement. “We are committed to safeguarding all guests’ personal information and will continue to do so vigilantly.”
The Trump Hotel Collection reported a breach of its payment card systems late last year. The company said that between May 19, 2014 and June 2, 2015, credit card numbers, card expiration dates and security codes may have been compromised. A statement issued by The Trump Hotel Collection reported, “there may have been unauthorized malware access to some of the computers that host our front desk terminals and payment card terminals in our restaurants, gift shops and other point-of-sale purchase locations.”
The properties that were breached last year included Trump SoHo New York, Trump National Doral, Trump International New York, Trump International Chicago, Trump International Waikiki, Trump International Hotel & Tower Las Vegas, and Trump International Toronto.
Other hotel chains have been breached in the last year, including Hyatt and Starwood.
Trump bashed the cybersecurity in the United States in a recent New York Times article when he said, “We’re so obsolete in cyber…we’re the ones that sort of were very much involved with the creation, but we’re so obsolete.”
